Zohran Mamdani Vows a 'Dawn' for NYC in First Address
On his inauguration day in his new role, Zohran Mamdani vowed to “reimagine” the metropolis, promising “a new era” and an ambitious commencement to his administration.
A Historic Figure
The young political star, who was a relatively obscure state assemblyman, has become the city's first mayor of South Asian descent. He additionally marked a milestone by being the inaugural to be sworn in using the Qur'an.

Mamdani concluded his address with a direct statement: “The work has only just begun.”
